Washingkraine

Why Washingkraine?

When in late 2004 the people of Ukraine went to vote for their Prime Minister, they had a choice of the incumbent, pro-Russia candidate Viktor Yanukovych or the pro-western opposition candidate Viktor Yushchenko. In the event, the election was rigged, Yanukovych won, the election was ruled invalid by the Ukrainian Supreme Court and Yushchenko, it turns out, had been seriously poisoned with dioxin by persons unknown.

Yushchenko's party's color is orange. His supporters took to the streets and showed their colors.

A few weeks later, the American state of Washington elected Dino Rossi, Republican, over Christine Gregoire, Democrat, by a slim margin of 261 votes. A mandatory recount narrowed that to 42. The election was certified. The Democrats went to court to force hundreds of previously excluded ballots that had somehow "appeared" over the course of eight or more weeks to be included in the recount. Republicans and Democrats, such as I, objected. The rules and the law state that this is not to be done. Once the election results are certified, new votes may not be put into re-counts. They were permitted and Gregoire won the count by 10 (ten) votes! Just enough, as they say.

So, I say that Washington is like Ukraine. Here is my statement on it!
